Math: Dividing Fractions

Science: We will describe how to separate a variety of mixtures and solutions using our knowledge of physical properties of matter. 

History: Next week we will begin studying the Renaissance!  Our class history reader, From the Renaissance to the Golden Age, is available online for free from the publisher in PDF format: https://www.coreknowledge.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/CKHG_G5_B1_RenaissanceAge_SR.pdf.  

Grammar: Review and take test over all parts of speech. 

Literature: Voyage of the Dawn Treader through Chapter 7.

Spalding: Section T words.  Spelling and phonogram test on Friday.

 Literature - Voyage of the Dawn Treader Chapters 1-3.  Please send your scholar to school with the text if you have not done so already.

Spalding - Section U words. Test on Friday.

Writing - Reliable Sources

Grammar - Conjuctions and compound elements.

Science - Solutions and Separating Mixtures 

History - Age of Exploration Chapter 6-10 test on Wednesday. 

 Math -  Chapter Test on Tuesday.  Multiplying and dividing fractions.

Literature: Secret Garden test Tuesday, 11/4.  Study guide was given 10/29.  "Lochinvar" Week 3 due 11/7.

Spalding: Section T words.  Test on Friday, 11/7.

Faculty, staff, and students are invited to honor their family members who have served in the military by filling out a short info form and attaching a photo to be displayed in the library on November 11, which is a school day. 

Please note: photos will not be returned so just send in a copy of your veteran's photo. 

Forms will be sent home with students on Monday, October 20^th and extra forms can be requested from your teacher or downloaded here. Please return the forms to school by Friday, October 31^st.

Science: How Matter Changes.

History: Age of Exploration: Spain and its Critics.  Quiz on Thursday.

Grammar:  Direct Object and Predicate Verbs. Quiz Thursday with labeling and diagramming of Direct Objects, Predicate Verbs, Predicate Nominative, and Predicate Adjectives. 

Writing: Summarizing from a Reference. 

Literature: Reading Secret Garden through Chapter 19.  Quiz over "Road Not Taken" on Thursday.

Spalding: Spelling test on Friday.

Q1W8 September 29 - October 2

Character Dress Up Day is coming on October 24th.  Forms are going home with your scholar on Monday, 9/29.  Kindly return forms for teacher approval no later than October 22nd. Approved forms will be returned with a stamp.  Your child's teacher will reach out to you via email if any feedback or adjustments are needed.

Spalding - words. Quiz on Friday. 

Literature - Continuing to read Secret Garden Chapters 13-16.  "Road Not Taken" poem by Robert Frost.  Quiz on on Friday over the first stanza. 

Math - Chapter 2 Review: word problems using the four operations with larger numbers. Test on Wednesday. 

Science - Properties of Matter. 

Grammar - Identifying and diagramming predicate adjectives. Open Notes quiz on Friday.

Writing -  Final draft of personal narrative due Tuesday.
