 Math - Solving word problems using multiplication, division, and other orders of operations.

Grammar - Continue practicing Predicate Nominatives

            Quiz: WEDNESDAY 9/16 - Create PN Sentences (In class activity that will be taken as a quiz             grade, students may ask questions, get guidance, and use their spirals to complete this.)

Writing - Summarizing an Expository (Freedom Week Focus)

            Test: FRIDAY 9/18 - Preamble Copy Work (Done in Class)

Literature - The Secret Garden Chapters 13-16 / "IF" W3-W4

           Test: FRIDAY 9/18 - Recite ALL of "IF" by Rudyard Kipling

Special Events: 

Individual Picture Day will be on WEDNESDAY 9/16. Please send scholars with their polo uniform shirts and their smiles! :)

Our first History celebration of the school year is quickly approaching! Mark your calendars for Tuesday October 20th from 12:30pm - 2:30pm! If you are interested in joining the volunteer lottery, please visit the PSO website to update your background check if you have not done so this new school year. Please refer to the family handbook or reach out to Mrs. Horstman, Mrs. Pelletier or Mrs. Cramer! (Donation and Volunteer Sign Up Genesis will be sent out at the same time coming from your child's homeroom teacher!)

Intramural practices have begun! Pease send scholars with the appropriate athletic clothing (Guidelines found in Family Handbook) and an optional snack to have before practice begins!

Graded work will be sent home with your scholar every Tuesday.  Kindly return the parent signature slip and any additional work requiring a parent signature with your scholar.

Mid-May: Reminder to bring bags for locker clean-ou

 

Dear Fifth Grade Families,

Please send in reinforced bags to school by Wednesday, 5/20, so your scholar can bring home locker shelves and decorations.  Learning will continue through the last day of school and some spirals and supplies will continue to be used, but the majority of it will come home this week.    Thank you so much for your support as we finish the year strong.

 

  • Students have begun bringing locker and school supplies home.  Please send a bag for decorations and locker shelves to go home on Wednesday, 5/20If you have extra disposable bags, please send those in for extras.
  • May 22 Last Day of School:  House Banquet, students can wear house shirts

    Q4W8 May 11-15

     

     Announcements:

    Please note that Friday, May 15th, will now be a full school day at Great Hearts Northern Oaks. 

    We will continue instruction through Friday, 5/22.  On 5/22 we will have a cumulative math assessment as well as a final Spalding test. These test will not be given early. Please plan to have your scholar present for these assessments.

    Learning will continue through the last day of school and some spirals and supplies will continue to be used, but we are slowly beginning to send materials home this week and early next week. This will help avoid your students from having a huge, heavy bag on the last day of school.

    Math - quiz Tuesday, 5/12, over data visualization and analysis.  Wed - Friday: Consumer Math.

    Science - Owl pellet dissection.  Lab packet is due Thursday, 5/14, as a test grade.

     Dates and Information:

    • All library books were due Monday, 4/27, please return them as soon as possible
    • Friday, May 1: Spring Concert at Trinity Baptist Church 
    • We will continue lessons all the way through the last day of school, including a Spalding and Math test on Friday, May 22nd.

    Q4W3 March 30 - April 3

    Literature - Chapters 11-13 in Where the Red Fern Grows.  If the chapter is not finished during class, student are required to finish the chapter at home. 

    Grammar - Relative Clauses. 

    Writing -  Claim, Evidence and Reasoning.

    Spalding - Section W words.  Test on Thursday.

    Math - Test on Tuesday over word problems with decimals.  Remainder of the week will cover volume. 

    Science - Test on Wednesday over Earth's Process (landform creation, fossilization, weather and climate).
